Description

A Composition of Contrast, Radiance, and Permanence

DIBA is conceived as a non-representational architectural artwork that explores one enduring principle: light, when structured with intention, ultimately prevails. Within the composition, a dense central formation appears to absorb and contain luminosity, while its surrounding field releases it outward in controlled, radiant trajectories. This tension between restraint and expansion defines the visual language of the piece.

Rather than decorative expression, DIBA is constructed as a permanent spatial intervention—an artwork that interacts with architecture, not merely sits within it.

Material Architecture and Craftsmanship

Each piece is individually produced over an 8–10 week period, requiring more than 600 hours of precise, fully handmade work. The composition is built through the layered placement of over 12,000 crystals—primarily Swarovski—combined with custom metallic-coated elements and gold-plated stainless steel.

This material hierarchy is not aesthetic alone; it is engineered to control reflection, absorption, and dispersion of light across the surface.

Key Material Characteristics

  • Over 12,000 hand-applied Swarovski crystals
  • Custom metallic-coated crystal elements for tonal variation
  • Gold-plated stainless steel structural base
  • Multi-density crystal placement to create depth and gradient
  • Fully handmade construction (100% hand-applied process)

Light Interaction and Visual Behaviour

DIBA is not static. Its perception shifts continuously depending on environmental conditions.

Under daylight, metallic and crystal surfaces respond with subtle tonal variation, revealing layered depth within the central form. Under controlled artificial lighting, the composition intensifies—producing sharper reflections, pinpoint highlights, and a more defined radiating structure.

The result is an artwork that evolves throughout the day, maintaining visual relevance across changing atmospheres.

Limited Edition and Collectibility

DIBA is produced in a strictly limited series of no more than 15 pieces worldwide. Each work is made to order upon commission, reinforcing its position as a collectible rather than a repeatable product.

Every piece is accompanied by:

  • Certificate of authenticity
  • Individually assigned serial number
  • Signed HDLS plaque

This ensures traceability, provenance, and long-term collectibility within private and design-led collections.

Architectural Integration

With a refined depth of 5 cm and a weight of approximately 14 kg, DIBA is engineered for flush-mounted installation, allowing it to integrate seamlessly into architectural surfaces while maintaining strong visual presence.

Professional installation is required, positioning the piece as a permanent design feature rather than a transient decorative object.

Recommended Applications

  • Gallery walls within private residences
  • Double-height entrance features (paired compositions)
  • Private lounges and collector interiors
  • Master suites and dressing spaces
  • Michelin-starred hospitality environments

Customisation and Specification

While the composition itself remains fixed to preserve its artistic integrity, DIBA can be customised in scale to suit specific architectural contexts. This allows alignment with varying wall proportions and spatial hierarchies without altering the core visual language.

A Philosophy Materialised

At its core, DIBA embodies a singular idea: that light, regardless of how it is contained or challenged, ultimately asserts itself.

This is not expressed through symbolism alone, but through structure—through the controlled release of luminosity from within density, and the deliberate expansion of light across the composition.

In this sense, DIBA is not only an artwork, but a study in permanence, contrast, and the inevitability of illumination within space.
