Luxury Lighting Materials — The Foundations of HDLS Design

HDLS is a London-based design-led lighting house specialising in luxury lighting crafted from noble materials, including alabaster stone, Murano-style glass, and precision-cut crystal, created for high-end residential and architectural interiors.

At HDLS, noble materials are the foundation of every lighting collection. From natural Spanish alabaster and Murano-style glass to precision-cut crystal, each element is selected for its ability to shape light, influence atmosphere, and define architectural presence. Our material-led approach brings together craftsmanship, heritage, and contemporary design to create lighting that feels timeless, sculptural, and enduring.

Our Noble Materials

Alabaster Stone

Natural Stone • Diffused Lighting • Sculptural Forms

HDLS luxury alabaster lighting begins with natural Spanish alabaster, selected for its soft translucency, distinctive veining, and warm diffusion of light. Each stone is carefully sourced and handcrafted by skilled partner artisans into sculptural lighting pieces, including alabaster chandeliers, pendant lights, and wall sconces designed for contemporary luxury interiors. Natural variations within every slab ensure that no two creations are identical, resulting in lighting that combines craftsmanship, architectural presence, and timeless refinement.

Murano-Style Glass

Artisan Glass • Venetian Heritage • Sculptural Lighting

Inspired by the heritage of Venetian glass artistry, Murano-style glass introduces movement, texture, and artisanal expression into contemporary HDLS lighting collections. Each glass element is handcrafted by skilled artisans to capture and refract light with elegance, creating unique pieces designed to endure for generations. HDLS interprets this tradition through modern compositions, including grand-scale chandeliers, floral and nature-inspired forms influenced by Ciocca and Rezzonico styles, and statement wall sconces, balancing craftsmanship and design precision to bring warmth and refinement into luxury architectural interiors.

Crystal

Precision-Cut Crystal • Reflective Lighting • Architectural Scale

Precision-cut crystal remains one of the most iconic materials within HDLS luxury lighting collections. Celebrated for its clarity, brilliance, and ability to amplify light, crystal is used not as ornament alone but as an architectural element that defines atmosphere, scale, and spatial presence. HDLS creations incorporate hand-cut Swarovski® or Asfour Crystal elements, alongside A+ grade lead-free crystal selected for exceptional quality and durability. The choice of crystal within each design is guided by scale, composition, and the way light is refracted across an interior. HDLS crystal collections include luxury crystal chandeliers, contemporary sculptural lighting, and statement crystal wall sconces designed for grand interiors.

Noble Metal Finishes

Many HDLS lighting collections are handcrafted in solid copper, chosen for its strength, sculptural flexibility, and the depth of character it develops over time. Unlike brass, copper allows finer detailing and a richer evolution of finish, making it a natural foundation for luxury lighting intended to endure.

Depending on the design, copper is finished in 18K gold plating for warmth and timeless radiance, or bronze plating for depth, patina, and architectural presence. Selected collections also employ stainless steel, valued for precision and modern structural clarity.

While Murano-style glass, alabaster stone, and crystal shape and diffuse light, noble metals form the craftsmanship foundation of each piece — providing structure, durability, and finishes that become more refined with age.

Over time, these noble metal finishes evolve with the interiors they inhabit, giving each HDLS piece a sense of permanence, individuality, and quiet collectability.

Each HDLS collection is developed around a material philosophy, allowing architects and interior designers to select lighting by texture, atmosphere, and architectural intent.
